Mentorship Program 2010-2011
Be a mentor for first-year students!
This program is a student support network that assists new students with the transition into the law school environment. First-year students are matched with upper-level students who provide guidance and helpful hints on surviving the first year of law school.
Your participation is an integral part in ensuring all first-year students have a positive experience here!
To submit the form electronically, see [ https://acrobat.com/?i=ChRJ5q8cQMs*cB4JV*9KlA ]. Once you download the form, you may fill it out and click the “submit form” button in the upper-right corner of the document; paper copies of the application are posted on the SBA door. The application is due by Friday, May 14, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.

ATTENTION ALL LAW STUDENTS:
Locker Renewal Program
It is time to renew your locker for the upcoming school year. By renewing this spring you save $10 and guarantee that you will have a locker next year. Unrented lockers will be receiving new locks over the summer. 3L’s: You will have until June 15th to clean out your lockers.
WHEN: TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO RENEW YOUR LOCKER
WHERE: Atrium
PRICE: $60 (Cash or Checks payable to UW SBA)
Frequently Asked Questions
1) What happens if I don’t renew?
A: A student who fails to renew by the designated deadline (April 28) will forfeit use of the locker as of June 15. At that time, the contents will be emptied and held by the SBA for four weeks, after which time the contents shall become the property of the SBA. (See §1306 of the SBA By-Laws)
2) What if I’m taking summer classes but do not want to renew my locker for the fall semester?
A: A student in summer school may continue possession of the locker until the completion of sumer classes and must empty the locker by the end of the first week of the fall semester. If you are taking summer classes but do not wish to renew, you must let Chase Horne know via email (chorne@wisc.edu), otherwise, your locker will be cleaned out on June 15th. (See §1305 of the SBA By-Laws)
3) We are a Student Organization who received lockers after the Student Org Room was cleaned out, what do we need to do?
A: Nothing. Student Organizations will continue to use the same lockers free of charge.
4) Can I rent a locker in the fall?
A: Yes, but locker rentals are a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that lockers will be available in the fall after Fall Orientation. Also, locker prices in the Fall Semester will be $70, so why not save $10 this spring?
5) What do you do with the locker revenue?
A: The majority locker rental revenue is used by the SBA to provide funding to other student groups within the law school. It is also used to fund SBA events and conduct SBA operations. (See §1304 of the SBA By-Laws)
If you have any questions, email Chase Horne at chorne@wisc.edu.

HELP IMPROVE THE LAW SCHOOL:
TODAY IS THE LAST DAY FOR
COURSE EVALUATIONS
AVAILABLE THROUGH APRIL 28TH
Please take time to complete the on-line evaluations for your courses this semester. You can access the forms any time through April 28th. These evaluations are your opportunity to share your experience of the class. This feedback about what worked and what didn’t is very valuable to the professors and to the law school administration. It is used in evaluating professors’ performance, both in the tenure process and thereafter. Providing candid feedback is also a service to the students who come after you. By making your professors aware of the problems (such as a less-than-ideal casebook or incomprehensible power point slides), you can help reshape your courses.
ALSO, for 1Ls:
If you participated in this semester’s Structured Study Groups – don’t forget to provide feedback!! Your input will directly affect next year’s orientation and help shape the program into an important part of the legal education at Wisconsin Law School.

Small Section Student Leaders
Be a student leader for a first-year small section!
This program is a student support network that facilitates interaction within the first-year small section, helps introduce first-year students to upper-level students, and provides an additional resource to first-year students as they transition into the law school environment. Upper-level students will work in teams with one of the first-year small sections to provide one or more opportunities for informal interaction throughout the fall semester.
Please note that small section leaders are expected to make themselves reasonably available to their first-year students for advice, recommendations, or general law school information, for example. Small section leaders do not have to guaranty the success of their first-year students or be available to them “24/7.” However, small section leaders should accommodate reasonable and timely requests for guidance, outline assistance, and suchlike. Small Section Leaders must be in Madison and available for first-year orientation, which is currently scheduled for August 25-27, 2010.
Please also note that the primary method of communication between small section student leaders and SBA will be email.
Being a small section leader can be one of the most rewarding parts of your law school experience! You will make new friends, get to know new students on a deeper level, and help students achieve their academic potential (not to mention you can have one party for your small group paid for by the SBA)!
To submit the form electronically, see [ https://acrobat.com/?i=NjnudOEX5CST9rc2ejYs4A ]. Once you download the form, you may fill it out and click the “submit form” button in the upper-right corner of the document; paper copies of the application are posted on the SBA door. The application is due by Friday, May 28, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.
Contact Jason Foster at jdfoster@wisc.edu with any questions.

Faculty Committee Student Members
SBA NEEDS YOUR HELP RUNNING THE LAW SCHOOL
Sit on a Faculty Committee!
SBA is looking for current law students to sit on Faculty Committees at the Law School. These committees create academic and student-life policies, which help steer the Law School’s direction. SBA is now looking for students to fill the upcoming vacancies on committees such as the Faculty Appointments, Admissions and Financial Aid, Curriculum, Tenure, Student Career Opportunities, and Student Disabilities Committees. The committees’ student members provide valuable input for important Law School decisions that affect all students.
To submit the form electronically, see [ https://acrobat.com/?i=kA9JuUMAPMROwPT3Ma5y4g ]. Once you download the form, you may fill it out and click the “submit form” button in the upper-right corner of the document; paper copies of the application are posted on the SBA door. You must also submit a current résumé to Jason Foster at jdfoster@wisc.edu. Your application will be complete when you have submitted both this form and a current résumé. The completed application is due by Friday, May 21, 2010, at 5:00 p.m.
Please note that telephone interviews will be conducted the week of May 24. A sign-up document for the interviews will be circulated shortly after applications are due.
