FACULTY COMMITTEE STUDENT MEMBERS
The faculty committees serve various functions in the Law School’s administration and governance. Each committee sits two student members who represent the student body’s perspective and provide valuable input for important committee decisions.
The Admissions and Financial Aid Committee deals with issues regarding admissions and financial aid at the Law School. Student representatives: Elizabeth Massaro (3L) and Claire Norsetter (2L).
The Curriculum Committee determines the student body’s desires for the curriculum. This committee then brings those desires to the administration’s attention and, along with the administration, discovers ways to effectuate those desires. Student representatives: Ian McFarland (3L) and Colleen Marion (2L).
The Faculty Appointments Committee is chiefly involved with hiring new faculty at the Law School. Student representatives: Rich Greenlee (3L) and Chris Byers (2L).
The Student Career Opportunities Committee works with the Career Services staff to ascertain how that office might better serve students’ career needs. Student representatives: Larry Fogel (3L) and Ally Amerson (2L).
The Student Disabilities Committee brings the needs of disabled students to the administration’s attention and endeavors to improve the Law School’s environment for students with disabilities. Student representatives: Sarah Anderson (3L) and Sara Stellpflug (2L).
The Tenure Committee decides whether to grant tenure by reviewing a professor’s scholarship, teaching, and service to the Law School. Student representatives focus mainly on evaluating a professor’s teaching and service. Student representatives: Delanie Breuer (3L) and Janet Mitchell (2L).
The faculty committee student members will periodically report committee activities to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, who will announce these updates as necessary at the general Student Bar Council meetings. Collectively, the student members of the faculty committees comprise the SBA Steering Committee. The Steering Committee serves to promote communication among the various faculty committees, the Student Bar Council, and the general student body. Ultimately, the Steering Committee’s goal is encouraging and facilitating student voice in the Law School’s administration and academic affairs.

Small Section Student Leaders
The application deadline has been extended! Be a student leader for a first-year small section!
This program is a student support network that facilitates interaction within the first-year small section, helps introduce first-year students to upper-level students, and provides an additional resource to first-year students as they transition into the law school environment. Upper-level students will work in teams with one of the first-year small sections to provide one or more opportunities for informal interaction throughout the fall semester.
Please note that small section leaders are expected to make themselves reasonably available to their first-year students for advice, recommendations, or general law school information, for example. Small section leaders do not have to guaranty the success of their first-year students or be available to them “24/7.” However, small section leaders should accommodate reasonable and timely requests for guidance, outline assistance, and suchlike. Small Section Leaders must be in Madison and available for first-year orientation, which is currently scheduled for August 25-31.
Please also note that the primary method of communication between small section student leaders and SBA will be email.
Being a small section leader can be one of the most rewarding parts of your law school experience! You will make new friends, get to know new students on a deeper level, and help students achieve their academic potential (not to mention you can have one party for your small group paid for by the SBA)!
To submit the form, see [ https://acrobat.com/?i=NjnudOEX5CST9rc2ejYs4A ]. (Note that you must have Adobe Acrobat or Professional to submit the form.) Once you download the form, you may fill it out and click the “submit form” button in the upper-right corner of the document. The application is due by Saturday, July 10, at 5:00 p.m.
