ATTENTION ALL LAW STUDENTS:
Locker Renewals
By renewing this spring you save $10 and guarantee that you will have a locker next year. Unrented lockers will receive new locks over the summer.
**If you do NOT renew, you will have until JUNE 15th to clean out your locker. This message constitutes your notice to clean out your locker if you fail to renew. There will be no subsequent reminders.
WHEN: Monday April 23rd – Friday April 27th from 10am – 4pm
WHERE: Atrium
PRICE: $60 (cash or check payable to UW SBA)
FAQs
1) What happens if I don’t renew?
A: A student who fails to renew by April 27th will forfeit use of the locker as of June 15th. At that time, the contents will be held by the SBA for 4 weeks, after which time the contents shall become the property of the SBA. (See §1306 of the SBA By-Laws)
2) What if I’m taking summer classes or am a 3L studying for a bar exam, but do not wish to renew?
A: If you are in summer classes or studying for a bar exam, you may continue possession of your locker until August 5th, provided that you email Michael Weigel (mwweigel@wisc.edu) your name, locker number, and grounds for extension by Friday April 27.
**On August 6th, the contents of your locker will be emptied and become property of the SBA.
***If you do not email Michael Weigel, your locker will be cleaned out with all of the other lockers on June 15th (see §1305 of the SBA By-Laws).
3) My Student Organization has a locker – what do we need to do?
A: Nothing. Student Organizations will continue to use the same lockers free of charge.
4) What do you do with the locker revenue?
A: The majority of locker revenue is used to provide funding to other student groups within the law school. It is also used to fund SBA events and conduct SBA operations. (See §1304 of the SBA By-Laws)
If you have any questions, email Michael Weigel at mwweigel@wisc.edu.

Visit to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility
The final visit of this semester to the ICE detention facility in Dodge County is on Wednesday, April 25. Volunteers, on behalf of the National Immigrant Justice Center, screen detainees for possible relief from deportation. Immigrant detainees are not eligible for court-appointed counsel. This assistance is usually the only service offered throughout the deportation process.
These trips are a great opportunity to get firsthand experience with immigration law and the impact of immigration policy. No prior immigration law experience is necessary, but Spanish language skills are preferred.
We will depart at 6:30am from the law school and return before 2pm. A training session for new participants is required. RSVP with your name and birth date to dwilliams6@wisc.edu by Tuesday, April 17. There are twelve spots open, so if you want to secure a spot, please sign up early. Email with questions!
